Also known as: 餅, もち, お餅
A type of Wagashi - a Japanese rice cake made of glutinous Rice pounded into paste and molded into shape. It is a traditional Food for the Japanese New Year and is commonly sold and eaten during that time.

Porridge
- shiruko | Winter dessert where the mochi is half-melted in with the adzuki beans.
- Zouni Soup | New Year soup.
Wagashi
- arare | Roasted mochi flavored with Soy Sauce. Beans can also be used.
- Imomochi | Comes with potatoes and sweet and spicy seasoning.
- Hina Arare | Arare flavored with Sugar eaten on Hinamatsuri.
- Hishimochi |From top to bottom, it's a mochi with the colors pink, white, and green. Eaten on Hinamatsuri.
- Kagami Mochi | New Year mochi with a Mandarin Orange on top.
- kashiwa mochi | Eaten during Kodomo No Hi.
- Raindrop Cake | Transparent, raindrop looking mochi.
- Pon De Ring | Mixed between a Donut and mochi. Also just known as mochi doughnut.
- Sakura Mochi | Mochi in the color of a cherry blossom (sakura).
- Zunda Mochi | Mochi with mashed green soybean paste on top.
- Kusa Mochi | Mochi infused with Japanese Mugwort.
- Hanabira Mochi | Flat mochi wrapped around anko and candied burdock, shaped like a petal.
- Yakimochi | Grilled or broiled mochi.
- kirimochi | Rectangular mochi.
Daifuku
- Daifuku | Mochi with a sweet filling, usually a Red Bean Paste.
- Ichigo Daifuku | Mochi with a Strawberry inside.
- mame daifuku | Adzuki beans or soybeans are mixed into the mochi or the filling.
- Mikan Daifuku | Mochi with a Mandarin Orange inside (top part of the image).
- yukimi daifuku | Ice Cream mochi.
