Gaijin 4koma (Meme)

A 4koma reaction Meme based on two photos of four IGN staff members reacting to an E3 announcement. The first image shows the men with Bored expressions, while the second shows them Excited after seeing something offscreen. The meme is usually used to express one's disappointment and excitement over two separate things.

The men are, from left to right, Matt Casamassina, Craig Harris, Chadd Chambers, Peer Schneider. According to Peer Schneider, the two photos show their genuine reactions to keynote speeches given by Miyamoto Shigeru at E3 2003 and 2004 about Nintendo's then upcoming offerings.

The photographs were posted on the /ghard/ (Game Hardware) board on 2channel, where they were dubbed the "Gaijin 4koma" in Japanese. The meme became popular on 2channel as early as in June 2004, then later on 4chan where they were known as the "Reaction Guys".
