Byron is the Duke of Chalphy and the father of Sigurd (Fire Emblem) and Ethlyn (Fire Emblem). As a full-blooded descendant of Baldr of the Twelve Crusaders, he is capable of wielding the holy sword Tyrfing (Fire Emblem).
Byron escapes a fatal assault by Lombard (Fire Emblem) in Chapter 5 of the game and delivers Tyrfing to Sigurd with his dying breath. He dies in his son's arms, having fulfilled his final mission, and Sigurd may avenge his father's killer at the player's discretion soon after.
