About Yume Kawaii

Also known as: ゆめかわいい, yumekawaii, ファンシー, ゆめかわ, 梦可爱, 粉彩系

Literally "dreamy cute". A Japanese aesthetic and art movement defined by sugary pastels, overly girly aesthetics, and soft, dreamlike imagery. The name first started seeing use in around 2013, popularized by Ichigo Rinahamu.

Common visual elements include Clouds, Star (Symbol)s, Magical Girl motifs, Hearts, Bows and Ribbons, wings, fluffy textures, Toys, Carousels, Sweets, and Rainbows. The usual palette tends to consist of whites, soft blues, purples, and pinks, with pastel yellow as a frequent accent color.

Many other Japanese aesthetics and fashion styles either directly evolved out of Yume Kawaii or were heavily influenced by it, including Yami Kawaii, Fairy Kei, Uchuu Kei, Tenshi Kaiwai and Heisei Retro.
