A style of top with a single strap that goes around the back of the neck, lacking any fabric on the shoulders. If you can see a strap behind the neck but not on the shoulders, then it's a halterneck.
Many types of tops can have halternecks: Halter Dresses, shirts, leotards, as well as One-Piece Swimsuits and Bikinis often feature this design.
