Also known as: 天狗, てんぐ, 烏天狗, カラステング, 白狼天狗, 大天狗
A Japanese Traditional Youkai, thought to take the forms of birds of prey and traditionally depicted with human, monkey, and bird characteristics. They are associated with conceitedness and trickery.
Their clothing is based on the clothing of the yamabushi, Japanese mountain hermits. They stereotypically wear a Tokin Hat, Yuigesa (a pom-pommed Sash), and Tengu-Geta (single-toothed sandals). They may carry a Shakujou (staff with dangling rings) or Hauchiwa (a magical feather fan).
Usually they are depicted as humanoid ravens or crows, though there are also those that look like white wolves (likely a remnant of the original Chinese tiangou, from which the kanji is taken from), or as Yamabushi Tengu (red-skinned humans with unusually Long Noses and Wings, as seen on Tengu Masks).
