The Steyr AUG (Armee Universal Gewehr, "Universal Army Rifle") is family of Austrian 5.56×45mm NATO Bullpup weapons adopted in 1977. The most common type is the Assault Rifle, though other types were developed alongside it. The Weapon features a very large trigger guard that covers the pistol grip, a tubular Vertical Foregrip and an integrated Optical Sight in most models. It's distinctive stock is monolithic and entirely polymer, very unusual for the time.
AUG derivatives remain the standard issue small arm of Austria, and were also adopted by Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the Falklands Islands, and on a limited basis by fighters in Ukraine.
AUG HBAR is the light machine gun variant with a longer, heavier barrel and a bipod.
