聖徳太子 (Shoutoku Taishi, Prince Shoutoku) also known as 厩戸皇子 (Umayado no Oujii, Prince Umayado, lit. the prince of the stable door)
A historical Japanese prince and regent from the Asuka period. Prince Shōtoku was a real man, but the accounts of his life are mostly legendary. He appeared on the 10000 Yen Note from 1958 to 1984, when he was replaced by Fukuzawa Yukichi.
Toyosatomimi No Miko from the Touhou game Ten Desires is based on Prince Shōtoku.
