A multiplayer online action role-playing game and successor to Phantasy Star Online of the Phantasy Star series by Sega. It was released in Japan on August 31, 2006 for the Playstation 2 and PC, and on December 12, 2006 for the Xbox (Original). It's North American release was on October 24, 2006, and in Europe on November 24th, 2006; both for all platforms.
The story and setting of Phantasy Star Universe, while similar, is not directly related to Phantasy Star Online. It has, however, received an expansion, Amibition of the Illuminus, and series of sequels for the Playstation Portable:
Character Tags
Note: The traditional class names of the Phantasy Star Online series do not to apply to Phantasy Star Universe. It's no longer possible to identify classes by appearance alone since character outfits are available based on race, not class.
Instead of tagging classes, races can be tagged by their ears, using Pointy Ears, Robot Ears, and Animal Ears for Newmans, CASTs, and Beasts, respectively.
