Originally an anime-only character, he is the father of Broly (Dragon Ball Z), appearing in Dragon Ball Z Movie 8, Broly: Legendary Super Saiyan.
Finally appeared in canon form with the release of Movie 20, Dragon Ball Super: Broly in late 2018, redone and redesigned under Toriyama's supervision.
