A fictional Cyberpunk City in the Cyberpunk tabletop games including it's adaptations, Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, it was originally founded as Coronado City in 1994 by business man Richard Night as his dream project to built a safe, environment friendly and self-sufficient city that was Capitalist friendly and welcoming to all citizens regardless of their background. However, Richard was assassinated in 1998 by criminal groups like the Mafia and Yakuza due to his refusal to hire construction firms connected to the criminal underworld as Richard wanted his city to be crime free. With Richard dead, the city renamed itself to Night City to honor their late founder while the criminal underworld took over the city, turning it into crime infested hive for years until 2009 when the Corporations that helped funded Richard went to war against the gangs and killed their leaders to bring order and ensure it was the Corporations who rule Night City.
With the city government being nothing more than a puppet to the Corporations, Night City has a large wealth gap where most citizens live under the poverty line and crime is high, forcing those in the lower class to work with the Corporations who exploit them or criminal gangs just to survive. Despite this, many people seek to live in Night City to one day achieve their dreams or die trying.
