A franchise with various movies, TV shows, cartoons, comics, and video games featuring King Kong, a classic movie monster who resembles a gigantic ape. The character first appeared in the 1933 movie King Kong (1933), which received universal acclaim upon its initial release and re-releases. The film was later remade in 1976 and 2005.
The original 1933 movie would be followed up by Son of Kong later that year, and a deal with Toho (Movie Company) would see the release of the 1962 crossover movie King Kong Vs. Godzilla and the 1967 movie King Kong Escapes. In 2017, the release of Kong: Skull Island would see King Kong join the MonsterVerse, later appearing in the 2020 crossover movie Godzilla Vs. Kong, the 2024 crossover movie Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, and the 2024 TV show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
