Henshin (変身, lit. "transformation") is the term for the Transformation sequences commonly seen in Tokusatsu, Mecha, and Magical Girl anime where a character transforms from their ordinary form into a more powerful form. The term is derived from Kafka's The Metamorphosis.
Although some speculate that the "Henshin Pose" originates from kabuki or cheerleading, the original inspiration is unclear.
