The Gundam Aerial is the first starting lead Gundam from a Gundam TV anime that is equipped with bit or funnel weaponry. Previously, bits or funnels are usually reserved as signature weapons of some mid-season upgrades or final lead Gundams such as Nu Gundam from Char'S Counterattack (or Hi-Nu Gundam from Char'S Counterattack - Beltorchika'S Children), Strike Freedom Gundam from Gundam SEED Destiny, 00 Qan[T] and its Full Saber variation from Gundam 00 A Wakening Of The Trailblazer, and Gundam AGE-FX from Gundam AGE.
