The eighth game in the Dragon Quest series, originally released in 2004 for the Playstation 2 and later brought to North America in 2005 and Europe in 2006. In 2013 it was ported as an app for Android (OS) and IOS (OS) mobile phones. It also received a remake for the Nintendo 3DS, released in 2015 for Japan and 2017 for all other regions.
It was the first game in the series to be released in America with the Dragon Quest title, and the first to be released in Europe at all.
