Also known as: ブリーダーズカップ
Fully known as the Breeders' Cup World Championships, this is a series of Grade 1 horse races at one of four racecourses in the United States since 2008:
- Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, California
- Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, Del Mar, California
- Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky (venue of the Kentucky Derby)
- Keeneland Racecourse, Lexington, Kentucky
The various races over two days such as the Turf, Mile and Distaff include both dirt and turf races and over various distances, but the Classic is a dirt race that rivals the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in terms of prestige. In 2015, the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities ranked the Classic as fourth on the list of races for 3-year-olds and older and the highest ranked dirt race. For comparison, the Japan Cup was ranked eighth and the Arima Kinen was ranked eleventh.
Three Japanese horses have won Breeders' Cup races: In 2021 at Del Mar, Loves Only You won the Filly & Mare Turf while Marche Lorraine won the Distaff, and in 2025 at the same track, Forever Young won the Classic.
In January 2026, Umamusume announced that the Breeders' Cup would be the centerpiece of the new scenario Beyond Dreams. This made it the second race or race series outside Japan to be so following the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Project l'Arc).
