Character in Final Fantasy VI. Has a paternal role to Celes Chere. He is responsible for the research on Magicite and performing the Magitek Knight experiments on Kefka Palazzo and Celes, breaking the former's mind.
In the World of Ruin, Celes and a sick Cid end up stranded on a solitary island. Celes attempts to nurse him back to health by feeding him fish. The common blind outcome is that he dies and Celes takes a leap of faith. Acing the minigame leads to his survival. Either way, Celes leaves the island on a raft Cid secretly crafted in his sickness.
