About With Handala Pose

Also known as: ハンダラ, حنظلة, Ḥanẓala

A pose taken from the popular cartoon character Handala (Arabic: حنظلة, romanized: Ḥanẓala), created in 1969 by the late Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali. A national symbol and personification of the Palestinian people, Handala is often depicted facing away with his hands behind his back. His pose represents defiance towards Israel over its occupation of both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
