Typically, uniform scarring on the upper arm of anywhere from 6 to 18 marks as a result of receiving a vaccine using a stamp-like injection tool. A common cause of this is the Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine to prevent tuberculosis. The Japanese BCG vaccine uses a 9 needle injection device which is used in two places on the upper arm.
