Also known as: 架空戦車
A Tank or tank-like armored Military Vehicle featuring a casemate (turretless) design, with the main gun mounted directly within the hull of the vehicle instead of in a rotating turret.
Advantages of such designs were that they were mechanically simpler than turreted designs, less costly to produce, lighter in weight, and lower in profile. Due to taking up less weight in the design, heavier armor and/or armaments could be added onto the chassis. A primary disadvantage to this design was that the main weapon was affixed with a limited fire arc in the front and thus required the entire vehicle rotating to be able to target things outside this arc.
