A Gem birthed from a contract with Kyubey in Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. Proof that one is a Puella Magi; it is the source of the girls' magical power.
Soul Gems have an appearance reminiscent of a Faberge Egg. They are decorated with emblems associated with the owner's personality, weapon or transformed Soul Gem's shape.
In camouflage mode, they become silver Rings worn on the middle finger. One side has the owner's first name written in Madoka Runes and the other side has a small oval being the Soul Gem. When transformed, it can take on various forms and can be found on nearly any part of the body. It can become one with the body or simply become an accessory.
