He was born in the Southern Water Tribe. His younger sister is Katara.
After Avatar: The Last Airbender his nieces and nephews are Kya (Legend Of Korra), Tenzin (Legend Of Korra), and Bumi (Legend Of Korra). In The Legend Of Korra his grandchildren are Jinora, Ikki (Legend Of Korra), and Meelo (Legend Of Korra).
