A Soviet semi-automatic carbine chambered for the 7.62×39mm round, designed in 1943 by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov Its gas-operated mechanism is resembles a scaled-down PTRS-41. The SKS features a permanently hinged, folding Bayonet and a 10-round internal magazine which is loaded by a stripper clip.
