Pteruges (Ancient Greek: πτέρυγες, lit. Feathers) were sets of Leather or linen strips forming a skirt-like part of Armor covering upper parts of limbs. They were worn as covers for the hips and thighs as well as epaulette-like covers for the upper arms.
