The phrase originated from a 2020 stream of Pekora playing Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, in which she utters the phrase "Ogey, rrrat!" after killing a rat and picking up a "R.RAT" (Russian ration). The phrase, along with the reaction image, became a meme on 4chan's /jp/ board, where it was used to call out "rrats" (false na[u]rrat[/u]ives) or shitposts. The meme later spread to the wider Hololive community.
