A Japanese subculture in which fashionable young men hang out in public places to flirt with women passing by.
Japanese media often depicts their flirting attempts as persistent (and even aggressive), refusing to take no for an answer. They are often used as a pretense for a male character to protect his female friend by intimidating them or pretending to be her boyfriend.
