A metal plate bearing someone's name that indicates ownership of whatever it's attached to. Compared to a Name Tag, which is sewn onto a piece of fabric and often made of the same material, a Nameplate is a (usually) metal, tent-shaped bar placed atop a Desk, or a flat sheet affixed near the front door of a House.
