About Nagaimo (Food)

Also known as: 長芋, 怀山, 薯蕷, とろろ

A type of mountain yam of Chinese origin that can be eaten raw or cooked. It has a long and slender body with light yellow skin, white hairy roots, and white flesh.

It’s best known for its gooey and slimy texture when grated, resulting in a white purée called “Tororo” (とろろ) in Japanese cuisine which can be served on Rice and Soba noodles.
