In Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Duel Monster lore, the Magistus refers to the three sages, Crowley, Rilliona and Endymion (Yu-Gi-Oh!), who sealed the power-hungry deity and pioneered a new age of magic by connecting to the reality to the world of spirits, opening up its use to the masses. But unbeknownst to history, the evil deity was actually the fourth member, Zoroa.
The presence of the aforementioned three ties itself into multiple Spellcaster-focused archetypes.
As a card, Magistus is an archetype depicting the four Spellcasters and related characters focused on Level 4 Spellcasters and equipping various in-archetype Extra Deck monsters to utilize their effects.
This archetype is featured as the second arc of Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories manga, which is its own interpretation of the lore. In this version, Aiwass, Artemis and Ninaruru are the Three Sages of spirits, who gave their power to human partners.
Being a faction tag, this should only be used when all three (or four) members of the group are present and equally in focus.
