A colorful, long-tailed Parrot with a proportionally large, powerful beak. There are 19 species in various colors, including combinations of red, green, yellow and blue.
Most macaw species have white or white-striped-with-black facial patches which are as unique as fingerprints, though some such as the Hyacinth Macaw have sparse color highlights instead.
When tagging macaws some confusion may exist between Red-And-Green Macaw and Scarlet Macaw as they are both large, red macaws with blue wing tips. The way to tell them apart is that the Scarlet Macaw has a bright yellow area in the middle of the wings while the Red-And-Green Macaw as the name suggests has green and blue wing tips.
