About Liang Guan

Also known as: 梁冠

Liang guan (梁冠, lit "beamed hat") is a ceremonial hat worn by ancient Chinese officials. Liang guan originated from the Yuanyou Guan and Jinxian Guan of the Qin Dynasty, it was mainly popular in the Ming Dynasty.

It features prominent vertical ridges on the top, where the specific number of beams denoted the wearer's official bureaucratic rank during grand court assemblies and state rituals.

Note that although it may appear somewhat similar to the Guanjin , the Liang Guan featuring a ring of stiff panels (冠耳, guan ears) around the back.
