The Unloved (French: Le Mal-Aimé) is a 2025 Christmas advertising short film produced for the French supermarket chain Intermarché. Created by the advertising agency Romance and directed by Nadège Loiseau (live-action) alongside animation studios Wizz and Illogic, the film was released in early December 2025.
The commercial became a viral phenomenon shortly after its release, praised for its high-quality animation style—which deliberately avoided Artificial Intelligence in favor of hand-crafted 3D with a painterly aesthetic—and its emotional storytelling.
