The national flag of the Korean Empire. Serving as the basis for the South Korean Flag, it established three central parts: a white rectangular background, a red and blue Taegeuk, symbolizing balance, in its center, and four black trigrams selected from the original eight, one toward each corner. The difference between this one and the modern verison is darker colours and a thinner Taegeuk.
