Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the Uterus and Cervix. After a hysterectomy, Menstruation and pregnancy are ceased. Oophorectomy (removal of Ovaries) and Salpingectomy (removal of Fallopian Tubes) may be surgically performed as well. It is a form of permanent sterilization.
If a woman were to retain her ovaries, she could still have biological children by donating her eggs.
