The Four Symbols are Chinese mythological creatures viewed as the guardians of the four cardinal directions.
They are Seiryuu, the Azure or Green Dragon of the East, Suzaku, the Vermilion Bird of the South, Byakko, the White Tiger of the West, and Genbu, the Black Tortoise of the North. Seiryuu is associated with trees and Spring (Season), Suzaku with fire and Summer, Byakko with silver and Autumn, and Genbu with water and Winter.
