The eleventh in a series of popular role-playing games by Square Enix Co., Ltd. The first in the series to go online, it is Square Enix's entry into the MMORPG market. It was first released on the Sony PlayStation 2 system in 2002 in Japan, then released in North America for the PC in 2003. It was re-released for the Microsoft Xbox 360 system in 2004.
Being an MMORPG, there are no central characters, discounting the player themselves in a meta sense, but the numerous races and job classes are represented on Danbooru.
