Evil Ryu, whose full name is known as Satsui no Hadou ni Mezameta Ryuu (lit. "Ryu who has Awakened to the Surge of Killing Intent") or just Satsui Ryu (lit. "Murderous Ryu"), is a playable character in various Street Fighter games beginning with Street Fighter Zero 2. He was originally introduced in a Street Fighter Zero manga series authored by Nakahira Masahiko and later adapted in the Street Fighter canon by Capcom.
He is the version of Ryu (Street Fighter) should he succumb to Satsui no Hadou, and depicts Ryu's struggle to resist the urge. Gameplay-wise, Evil Ryu has more powerful attacks than the original, strikes faster and possesses some of the attacks of Akuma (Street Fighter). The kanji 'Metsu' (滅) - meaning "destruction" - can be seen on his back when it appears after a Shun Goku Satsu finish.
