Set in the modern day, the series revolves around the Dead or Alive World Combat Championship, an international martial arts tournament in which fighters from across the globe participate for the title of world champion and large cash prizes.
The spin-off Dead Or Alive Xtreme series features the female characters of the franchise engaging in various summer-themed activities such as Beach Volleyball while on vacation in tropical settings.
