The Colt Navy gained particular prominence in Japan where it was one of several weapons purchased en-masse for the Boshin War, as its smaller size and weight relative to many pistols of the time made it more comfortable to carry and use. In anime, the Colt 1851 Navy is the signature weapon of Kino (Kino No Tabi) from Kino No Tabi.
