This Spider is entirely black, with a reddish pattern on the underside of its round abdomen (and usually on the upper side as well).
Although this spider is known for its venomous fangs, reports indicate that even if a healthy adult were bitten by it, the fatality rate is less than 1%.
The name “widow” comes from the fact that the female is said to eat the male after mating.
