Black Widow is an alias used by several characters in the Marvel universe, most notably Natasha Romanoff.
Natasha Romanoff is the first character to take on the Black Widow codename, first appearing in 1964. Trained from childhood in Russia's secretive Red Room facility to become a master spy and assassin, she defected to the West became a core member of the Avengers (Series). She is portrayed by Scarlett Johannson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Yelena Belova is the second character to take on the codename. Originally sent to kill Natasha, the two became allies and have since worked together. Yelena has been part of various teams and organizations including S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Thunderbolts (Movie). She is portrayed by Florence Pugh in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Ultimate Marvel universe features several other characters who went by the Black Widow codename, including Monica Chang and Jessica Drew.
The very first Marvel character to use the name Black Widow was Claire Voyant, an anti-hero who killed evil men to deliver their souls to Satan. She first debuted in 1940 and is unrelated to later characters using the name.
