About Arabesque (Pose)

Also known as: アラベスク

A Ballet position in which the dancer stands on one leg (the supporting leg) with the other leg (the working leg) elevated and extended behind the body, with both legs held straight. If the working leg is bent, the pose may be an Attitude (Pose) instead.

An arabesque can be executed with the supporting leg En Pointe, demi pointe, or with foot flat on the floor. The elevation angles of the working leg is commonly around 45° and 90°, but higher or lower is allowed, and the leg can be raised as high as 180° (in which case the Standing Split tag should also be added).

The arms may be held in various positions, usually Spread Arms or one Arm Up.
