An altar is a table or platform adorned, decorated with religious imagery and items for the presentation of religious offerings and rituals. It is found in places of worship like Churches and Temples.
- For the non-Christian, miniature household version, use Kamidana instead.
- Not to be confused with Pulpit (lectern-like object).
- Not to be confused with the iconostasis (a portable wall for displaying multiple icons in Orthodox churches).
