Alatreon is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter 3. Often compared to Fatalis, another black dragon introduced earlier. Alatreon is capable of manipulating most, if not all of the elements. However, since it cannot effectively control them, it often secludes itself in nigh-inhospitable places.
Its most well-known appearance was in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, wherein its unique mechanics there (you have to repeatedly hit it with an elemental weapon depending on its mode, in order to dampen its “Escaton Judgement” attack, lest it instantly kill you) proved to be very divisive.
