The fifth main entry in the Tales Series, as well as the first 3D entry. Released 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube in Japan and then in America the subsquent year, and then ported to the Playstation 2 (in Japan only) with a small amount of extra content. Notable for being the series' first major hit in the west thanks to Nintendo's involvement in the game's localization, as well as the dearth of RPGs on the GameCube at the time. In addition, a 12-episode OVA adaptation by Ufotable was released sporadically from 2007 to 2012.
Tales of Symphonia follows 17-year-old Lloyd Irving's quest to keep his childhood friend and Chosen of Mana, Colette Brunel, safe on her journey to save the world of Sylvarant by reaching the Tower Of Salvation (Tales). This quest becomes an adventure through multiple worlds in a struggle to stop an endless cycle.
Tales of Symphonia takes place 4000 years before Tales Of Phantasia. The game received a sequel, Tales Of Symphonia Knight Of Ratatosk, in 2008.
