A traditional long handled agricultural tool used to harvest whole plants, such as hemp or wheat. Commonly depicted as a weapon of choice used by the Grim Reaper as a tool to reap souls, or by other mythological beings.
Although often seen in fantasy and anime as a Weapon, it is only tangentially connected to the "war scythe", which is a Polearm having more in common with a Glaive (Polearm), fauchard or Naginata than with the original tool.
