A plasma-based creature with a whitish-blue Aura of Electricity that forms lightning bolt-shaped appendages. It has Teeth, and its Blue Eyes have a dividing line across them.
It has the ability to change its form and type by possessing an Electric Fan, Refrigerator, Microwave, Lawnmower, or Washing Machine. Additionally, it can possess a Pokédex, Smartphone, Computer, Drone, Bicycle, or Headset; these forms aid the Trainer but are not usable in battle. A Rotom possessing a Stereo, known as DJ Rotom, appears in Pokémon Pokopia.
Prior to Generation V, all of Rotom's forms were Electric/Ghost-type.
