About Wind Chime

Also known as: 風鈴, 风铃, ふうりん, Fūrin

Also called a wind-bell, the wind chime is a decorative object suspended in midair that has three basic forms:

  • A cluster of small pieces of metal, glass, pottery, bamboo, seashell, or wood that collide with each other and make noise when blown by the Wind
  • A cluster of tubes or rods, often made of metal or wood, that are rung by a central clapper, to which is attached a flat plate to catch the wind
  • A single Bell or open-ended glass globe whose clapper is attached to a flat plate to catch the wind.
