Kurdish: Yekîneyên Parastina Gel (YPG)
A mainly-Kurdish militia in Northern Syria, part of the armed wing of the Democratic Union Party of Syria and the primary defense forces of the de facto autonomous Democratic Federation of Northern Syria.
It has an all-woman sister organization, the Women'S Protection Units.
