Also known as: MP40
The MP40 (Maschinenpistole 40) is a German World War II-era 9×19mm Submachine Gun. It was initially designed by Heinrich Vollmer in 1938, and mass-production started in 1940. The Weapon features open-bolt mechanism, stamped metal parts such as its tubular upper receiver, a bottom-folding stock, and synthetic furniture (forearm and pistol grip).
This tag can also apply to the MP38, its predecessor with a milled receiver.
